Welcome to the kick off This Week in Snow for the forthcoming 2017/2018 season, a weekly roundup of all the best ski and snowboard content delivered direct to your inbox every Friday!

For those who don't me, I'm Richard, a Brit and founder of I'm a lifelong skier and snowboarder and did a ski season in Whistler back in the day (a decade ago now, getting on!) with my buddy Gav who also writes on the site. Without further ado, here are this week's top five picks:

  1. First up we finally have a ski podcast! 'Powder Is Knowledge' is co-hosted by Jim Dunscombe and Iain Martin who built and sold Natives - I'm listening on soundcloud here.
  2. The guys at Marmota Maps have launched a kickstarter to fund their new Ski Resorts of the West map - I've already got their Alpine map and have backed this one, can't wait to get this in time for Xmas!
  3. CNN wrote Five reasons to be pumped for the ski season which includes the fact it's an Olympic year and a battle of the sexes.
  4. HGTV wrote on the World’s First Ski-in, Ski-Out Treehouses in Montana that are built 30 feet in the air and come with a hotub!
  5. And finally Forbes wrote Why You Need To Ski In Europe This Winter educating North American readers on why Europe is worth their attention!
