Geneva to Chamonix transfers

Checked · 5 providers verified · Editorial comparison

Chamonix is one of the quickest resort transfers from Geneva. Providers quote about 1h15 to 1h30, crossing from Switzerland into France. We verified five transfer providers. The official Chamonix site also lists a daily coach and a rail route.

The valley is long. Where you stay, from Les Houches to Vallorcine, shapes your drop-off more than the company you choose.

Shared or private?

All five offer shared and private. AlpyBus and Alpine Fleet also sell cheaper fixed-stop shared services. AlpyBus's Express Line stops at Chamonix Sud, Le Fayet station and Sallanches park and ride. Alpine Fleet's fixed-point service stops from Sallanches to Argentière.

Door-to-door shared and private options cost more but end at your accommodation. Private is priced per vehicle, so quote it for your whole group.

How long does the journey take?

Each provider publishes its own estimate for normal conditions. They do not all measure the same thing, so treat them as a range rather than a promise.

Saturday changeovers and snow on the final climb add time. Alpine Fleet suggests allowing up to 1h30 on busy Saturdays.

  • Alpine Fleet About 1h15; up to 1h30 on Saturdays
  • Alps2Alps About 1h20 to 1h30
  • AlpyBus About 1h30
  • Mountain Drop-offs About 1h15
  • Ski-Lifts About 1h15 to 1h30

Arriving in the Chamonix valley

The valley strings together Les Houches, Les Bossons, Chamonix centre, Les Praz, Argentière, Le Tour and Vallorcine. Ski-Lifts and Mountain Drop-offs say they cover the whole valley.

AlpyBus notes that some valley addresses cannot be reached by minibus and use a meeting point instead. Give your full address when booking.

Picking up at Geneva Airport

Most transfer desks are in the arrivals hall on the Swiss side. Mountain Drop-offs notes that only flights from France arrive on the French side, with a signed walk to the Swiss side. Allow time for baggage and sports equipment, which arrive on a separate belt.

Give every provider your flight number so it can track delays. Here is where each says it meets you.

  • Alpine Fleet Desk in the Terminal 1 arrivals hall. Turn right, near the yellow visitor services desk.
  • Alps2Alps Driver meets you in the arrivals hall with a name sign.
  • AlpyBus Desks in the arrivals hall. Turn right out of baggage reclaim, about 20 metres, beside the Montreux Jazz Café.
  • Mountain Drop-offs Swiss side. Turn left after arrivals and walk 30 metres to its desk.
  • Ski-Lifts Not confirmed on the pages checked.

Public transport to Chamonix

The official Chamonix site lists FlixBus with daily connections between Geneva Airport and Chamonix.

By rail, the Léman Express runs from Geneva Airport to Saint-Gervais-Le Fayet. Change there to the Mont-Blanc Express, which serves Chamonix and the other valley villages. The tourist office gives 2h40 for the train from Geneva Cornavin.

What does it cost?

We do not print fares on this page. Prices move with date, flight time, group size and vehicle, and a headline "from" fare is the lowest available, not your price.

Shared fares are per person. Private fares are per vehicle. Compare one-way and return quotes on the same basis, for the same dates and the same number of passengers. We have not run a like-for-like quote exercise, so we do not say which provider is cheapest.

Sources and method

Every row comes from the provider’s own website, checked on the date shown. We include a business only where its current site confirms this exact route and service. Policies change, so confirm details with the provider before you book.
